Halong University’s highlights on International cooperation activitities in December, 2023

Halong University participated in the dissemination event and a final conference summarizing the project “MOnitoring Trends in Vietnamese graduates’ Employment” (MOTIVE)

From the  December 11th – 14th, 2023, the project “Monitoring Trends in Vietnamese graduates’ Employment” (MOTIVE) organized the dissemination event and final conference at Hanoi University, Vietnam (The project is funded by the European Union’s Eramus+ and implemented by the Consortium Inter-universities AlmaLaurea). In the morning of December 11th 2024 . Dr.Phan Thi Hue – Vice Rector of Halong University – attended and delivered a speech at the event.

On the side of the European’s partner taking part in the event, there were Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Vietnam; AlmaLaurea Interuniversity Consortium – Coordinator (ALMALAUREA), Italy; University of Applied Sciences (FH JOANNEUM), Austria; Universitat de Barcelona (UB). On the side of the Vietnamese partners were representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, Ha Noi Small and Medium Enterprises Association, along with educational institutions such as: Hanoi University (The national coordinating unit for the MOTIVE Project); Thai Nguyen University; Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology; Vietnam National University of Agriculture; Academy of Journalism and Communication; National University of Art Education; Hanoi Tourism College and Halong University.

During the conference, experts and managers delivered speeches of concluding statements, wherein all participating partners of the MOTIVE Project were commended for their collaborative efforts and the project’s achieved results; also proposed refining and perfecting the report while continuing sustainable activities, expanding the network between students, universities and businesses beyond the project’s conclusion.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Phan Thi Hue – Vice Rector of Halong University – affirmed that the project’s participation has allowed the university to assess the quality of education and the responsiveness of graduates to the demands of the labor market. Consequently, the university has developed strategies for imparting knowledge and soft skills that meet the requirements of the international intergration period. To elevate the sustainability goals and outcomes of the MOTIVE Project, Halong University will continue to disseminate research results through communication activities, as a connection between learners and businesses or recruitment units.

At the event, members of the project collectively signed the Sustainable Development  Agreement, committing to continue the communication activities and dissemination of the project’s research results in the future.

Member partners agree to cooperate on sustainable development of the MOTIVE Project

As of the current moment, the project has conducted surveys on over 30.000 graduates from 9 universities nation-wide, expanding its network to 22 universities, colleges, associations, and relevant agencies; has published 11 research studies on the employment status of students. The MOTIVE Project concludes in 2023 with the establishment of Higher Education Institutions Center for Graduate Tracking at www.news.motive.de-coffee.com.

Senior English Language Specialist from the Regional English Language Office (RELO Vietnam) shared insights on the topic “Prepared for a world of Artificial Intelligence (AI)” with teachers and students of Halong University.

From December 8th to 10th, 2023, the Regional English Language Office (RELO Vietnam), under the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, collaborated with Halong University to organize a training course on the topic “Prepared for a world of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”. The session featured a presentation by Senior English Language Specialist, Professor Dr. Robert Godwin-Jones, attracting 50 English Language teachers and students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

During the training program, Professor Dr. Robert Godwin-Jones engaged in discussions with teachers and students of English Language Department, covering valuable topics such as: the current status of technology use in language education, online language learning, intergration with and support for mobile devices, fostering learner autonomy, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and chatbots, inter-cultural learning intergration, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), multimedia, and the future of language learning.

Through the training program, teachers and students of Halong University gained a deeper understanding of the benefits and challenges of utilizing artificial intelligence and digital technology in language education. Consequently, they are now better equipped to plan and intergrate artificial intelligence technology into foreign language teaching as a mean of advancing their professional careers.

The delagation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep (Rector of Halong University), Dr. Phan Thi Hue (Vice Rector of Halong University), and representatives of various units within Halong University.

During the working session, both parties focused on discussing the implementation of several collaborative initiatives, such as linking undergraduate and master’s degree programs, student exchanges, and undertaking research projects in the near future.

At the conclusion of the working session, Dr. Phan Thi Hue (Vice Rector of Halong University) and Mr. Kim Dae Young (Acting Rector of JEJU International University) jointly signed the agreed-upon minutes outlining the outcomes of the discussion.

Volunteer from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) introduced the traditional culture of South Korea to the students of Halong University

From December 8th to 9th, 2023, Mrs. Yun Hi Won – Volunteer of the Korea International Cooperation Agencty (KOICA) – conducted a specialized lecture introducing the traditional culture of South Korea to the students of Halong University.

During the event, Mrs. Yun Hi Won presented two topics: Traditional clothing and games of the Korean people; Korean Fan Dance: Origins and significance of Fan Dance, Basic movements and considerations when performing traditional Korean Fan Dance.

Through the lecture, students gained a deeper understanding of the country and people of South Korea, fostering motivation for students of Korean language Department at Halong University to actively engage in their studies and pursue their passion in the chosen field.
